IEEE 802.11ad is an enhancement to the IEEE 802.11 family standard, that enables multi-gigabyte wireless communication in 60 GHz. In this paper, we propose a unique pilot design and corresponding channel estimation method for a frequency selective fading 60 GHz channel. It is shown that in our proposed channel estimation the number of pilot subcarrier are fixed in one OFDM symbol, but the pilot...

In this paper we have studied channel models (flat fading and frequency selective fading channels) estimation, adaptive equalization, and demodulation. The technique involves the optimization of the overall impulse response of the transmit and receive filters and effectively reduces the channel to one which is flat fading. This example showed the relative performance of linear and decision feed...

In this letter, pilot-assisted adaptive prediction iterative channel estimation in frequency-domain is presented for the antenna diversity reception of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals. A frequency-domain adaptive prediction filtering is applied to iterative channel estimation for improving the tracking capability against frequency-domain variations in a severe frequenc...

In this paper, a new adaptive transmit diversity selection (ATDS) scheme is proposed for future wireless communication system to provide high spectral efficiency (SE) and good quality of service (QOS) .The ATDS scheme selects the space time block code (STBC) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) scheme for flat fading channel and it selects space frequency block code (SFBC) OFDM sch...

Abstract Coherent rake reception of direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) signals requires accurate channel estimation in a frequency-selective fading channel. In this paper, we study the channel estimation method using FFT/IFFT for coherent DS-CDMA mobile radio using the code-multiplexed pilot structure. This channel estimation method can provide a good tracking capability ag...

Abstract Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has been attracting much attention for very high-speed data transmission over a frequency-selective fading channel. To improve the performance in a fading channel, some form of antenna diversity technique is necessary. Recently, Alamouti’s space-time coded transmit diversity (STTD) has been gaining a lot of attention for downlink (base-...

The combination of CDMA and space time block coding (STBC) has been proposed for indoor environment where the delay spreads are very small and the channel is flat fading. However, these schemes are not valid for the outdoor situation where the delay spreads are significantly large and the channel is frequency selective fading. Therefore, in our paper, we propose CDMA with space-time block codin...

Recently, single-carrier transmission with frequencydomain equalization (SC-FDE) is attracting attention since the good transmission performance is achieved in a severe frequency-selective fading channel. Most of studies on SC-FDE assumed a propagation channel having sample-spaced time delays. However, the real propagation channel has fractionally spaced time delays. Under such an environment, ...

The coherent reception of Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access(DSCDMA) signals in a multipath fading channel is considered. The channel model assumes independent paths with Nakagami fading statistics. This model includes the Rayleigh channel as a special case and a reasonable model for a frequency selective fading channel. The bit error rate(BER) performance of a RAKE receiver under va...

We obtain the Shannon capacity of a fading channel with channel side information at the transmitter and receiver, and at the receiver alone. The optimal power adaptation in the former case is “water-pouring” in time, analogous to water-pouring in frequency for time-invariant frequency-selective fading channels. Inverting the channel results in a large capacity penalty in severe fading.
